I’m training for a marathon and bought the watch to help me track my distances, but the watch is off by a significant amount. The watch showed that I had run 12 miles but I had really only run 10. The other day, I ran 16 miles but the watch read that I had run 19 miles. A real disappointment of a watch.
This watch is extremely difficult to program. I used the written instructions, downloaded the PDF manual, and tried the online tutorial. A combination of all three eventually did the trick after an hour of trial and error, but each one was fairly useless on its own. The instructions are not very detailed, for example – they never explain how to tell if the time is displayed in AM or PM. I had to change the display to 24hr in order to determine how it was set. Also, the instructions never explain what the pedometer sleep timer is or how to use it. I have never had so many problems setting up an electronic device before. Most of the time I barely need to follow the instructions to figure it out and this time I could barely figure it out with three different sets of instructions. This really needs to be fixed because most people don’t have an hour to figure out how to access the Main Menu. I haven’t even had a chance to use the watch yet, so hopefully they spent more time on the mechanics of the watch than they did explaining how to use it. Although, there’s no point in buying a watch that you can’t use.
This watch is awesome! I love everything about it! I would recommend reading the instructions thoroughly before using to make sure that you have it set up properly. Other than that, I highly recommend it!!
I just started running a few months ago and this is my first accelerator watch. It’s not as accurate as a GPS, but you can’t beat the price. I love all it’s functions and it wasn’t as hard to figure out as I thought it would be (of ‘course I used the online manual which I read on other reviews is a lot easier to understand). I haven’t even used all it’s functions but the ones I use the most are: step pedometer, calories burned, mileage, time, timer, alarm. Great buy!
This was the most accurate pedometer I have ever had. I had this watch for 2 years before the battery died. At first the instructions were a little difficult to follow but with a little time and patience I figured it out. The watch is not set up like an ordinary wrist watch but it does a whole lot more so it shouldn’t be set up the same. This is well worth the cost. Best pedometer I have ever had.
I bought this pedometer watch since it was difficult to always wear my waist-clip pedometer with certain clothing. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money, I just wanted something reasonably-priced that worked “reasonably” well. The pedometer watch meets both of these criteria.
The watch keeps excellent time, but the pedometer isn’t quite accurate as it frequently adds steps just when putting it on. The booklet says it doesn’t start counting until after 16 steps, but that isn’t true at all. Compared to my waist pedometer, it adds more than half again as many steps. For a 10,000 step day (per my waist pedometer) the pedometer watch will register around 17,000 steps.
Although my waist pedometer wasn’t expensive, it did make me calibrate the length of my stride, weight, etc., in order to calculate mileage, calories burned, etc. (I didn’t know from the description of the pedometer watch that you wouldn’t be required to do this.)
For my purposes, since I still wear my waist pedometer when possible, the pedometer watch is sufficient. It keeps good time and the background light is great for checking the time in dark places (i.e., theatres, etc.) It’s not the most attractive thing, but its water resistance and durability are nice added features.
For someone who wants an easy way of tracking their activity level from day to day, and/or is willing to determine the accuracy of the pedometer watch before relying on it soley, this isn’t a bad purchase. For someone who wants solid accuracy, you may want to look elsewhere.
I actually quit wearing this… It turns out that every little jiggle makes this move. Within an hr. of wearing it I had walked 5,000 steps and hadn’t done more than drive to the store and drive home. I am disappointed. I suppose if you only wear it when you walk/jog/run then it would be fine, I was more hoping to see how many steps I walked in an ordinary day. The judgment will have to be yours – but if you are looking for the same thing I was, I think the $10 clip on from any store would be more beneficial.
Great watch to keep track of your steps and exercise regime. Comfortable to wear, and keeps great time.
I purchased this watch to replace a watch/pedometer that I used for walking. When I received it I soon found out that the pedometer only works when you are running. Since I am not a runner it was useless to me so I returned it. Except for that one feature the watch while hard to use seemed to work well. Listing it as a pedometer is somewhat misleading.
Good watch with all basic features you want. Very good price.
On top of that, measurement of average pace, i.e. the number of steps per minute, is very useful, and I don’t know why other watches don’t do this.
Average pace is updated almost real-time, and just by looking at this I can tell if I’m going too slow or too fast, which helps me greatly to keep constant pace. (Before this watch, only thing I could do was to measure lap each mile or something, which sort of worked, but the thing is that the feedback was not immediate.)
This watch by the way works for my walking as far as I swing my arms.
This watch is awesome! It’s super accurate when I run, very user friendly and customizable when it comes to what goals you want to set(calories, distance or time and you customize it to your stride length, weight and age so its even more accurate). The layout is very intuitive and functional and has a pretty quick learning curve. The styling is also pretty good since I think it looks good even with jeans and a t-shirt. If you want a really functional watch you can wear for workouts and/or just around town this is the one!
I got this watch 2 days ago, and after going thru the manual and exploring, i am able to use most of the features this watch got to offer.
Overall it is a very good running watch. The Acceleration Sensor are pretty accurate from the default setting. I try to measure the steps and distance by running and counting on a local 400 meters running track.
If there is a (minor) issue about this watch, it could have been better if the distance can be measured in 2 decimal point of 0.00km, and i wish this watch can differentiate the speed between walking and running.
I would still give it a 4 stars for its accuracy, multi run records, easy to read display, and how easy to operate it.
This is a great upgrade to Casio’s standard pedometer watch (STP-100). The manual explicitly states that it is only for running, but it is very accurate for walking. I have held objects in my left hand and even if I don’t swing my arm, the watch accurately records my steps. I confirmed this with Casio before I bought the watch and they should probably rebrand it for walking and running.
You access the pedometer function through the stopwatch screen. You can set a goal and the watch will beep when you reach it. It has traditional Casio quality and features. It is ideal for travel because you can see 2 time zones and set multiple alarms.
After a month, I can say that I would give this watch 5 stars.
The watch seemed to function for about thirty days. After that I contacted customer service via email and telephone with no response what so ever so they are either out of business or just plain don’t care!
